Gliga Genova violin
Based on the Gliga Master (Genova 1), Gama (Genova 2) or Gems 1 (Genova 3). Beautifully antiqued and with flamed maple accessories (or other woods if preferred). The Genova 1 even has carved decoration on the pegs and tailpiece. For some reason these seem to come from Gliga better set up than the Gems and Gama.
Be careful if looking at other websites, particularly Australian ones. There is a difference between the Genova 1 (which is a Master violin that has been "Genova-d") and a "Gliga 1 Genova" which is a Gems 1 violin that has been "Genova-d". That is not intended to imply anything negative, it is just that the Australian retailers have a different naming system.
The pictures below show a genuine Genova 1 - note the ebony horseshoe where the neck joins the body, the pin construction, and the carving on pegs, tailpiece and chinrest. These are amateur pictures taken with a mobile phone and do not at all do justice to the beauty of the instrument (which is shown here with Obligato strings)
One of my younger customers had the idea of replacing the flamed maple fittings with walnut ones (which are offered by Gliga at no extra cost). The result is rather attractive, especially if you want to use Wittner adjusters because the black colour matches.. Thank you, Marcus, for both the idea and the pictures. This one is a Genova 2.
The professional picture below shows the Genova 2 as it comes to me. My standard set up has Dominant strings and four adjusters.
The Genova 1 and 2 prices are for the violin only (they correspond to the Master and Gama). The Genova 3 price is for the outfit which corresponds to the Gems.
