Bears the typical Amati label, then under that is written in ink, directly on the wood, Thomas P. Botts 1871.
This viola came to me with two soundpost cracks which had been glued. As part of the set up work, those two cracks have been properly patched by a graduate of the Newark school of violin making. The cracks do of course reduce the value but the instrument sounds good and there is no further work needed. If you want a nice viola at a lot less than you would be paying otherwise, perhaps this is the one for you? This one is offered at cost because of the repairs.
