This is a very well made instrument with good flaming. It has been set up with new pegs, bridge and D'addario Ascente strings. The tone is rich and full and there is plenty of volume. If you are in the market for an instrument in this price bracket, this one is well worth a look.
It is a dark brown in colour; the picture of the scroll shows the colour best.
I assume that it is German and from the turn of the twentieth century. It bears the ubiquitous Strad label and the Sicardi stamp. I'm afraid I can find nothing about Sicardi, beyond an Australian site offering one of these for more than $9000, but that was a private sale so the price may be optimistic. However this is a nice instrument.
