European made pernambuco violin bow half lined 4/4 slight seconds - no VAT!
These bows are made by a bow maker I have had experience of in the past through his work for a major European maker. I always liked his bows but have been unable to get them for the last four years. He now makes bows independently under his own name (which I am not to reveal openly but the bows are stamped with his name) and also for a major German maker.
This bow is a cheaper pernambuco model with a round stick and ebony frog of course, but unlike the superior bow this frog is half lined and has no fancy abalone slide or parisian eye. Weight 60 - 61g.
The reason I have marked this bow as slight seconds is because the sticks deviate slightly from being completely straight. In fact that is completely normal for bows in this price range (and higher) and it is something new bows are subject to over time, I have had very respected brand names here that have arrived perfectly straight and then bend slightly simply in storage. My first "good" viola bow which cost £60 in 1984 and which I used to diploma level was the same and that was German made. It simply is par for the course. The bend is slight, will not affect playing, and it goes the right way which means that with time it will go straight. But I do like to declare all faults because I don't ever want an unhappy customer.
